Business Intelligence Reporting Analyst (Power BI) 

Compensation Range: $65,000 - $80,000 
We will not entertain compensation outside of the stated range 

Location: US Based Remote 

The Mortgage Business Intelligence & Analytics team oversees all activities and functions involved with the company’s Business Intelligence platform, giving mortgage company business leaders access to reliable, actionable data to better manage and understand the business and drive company growth. 

We are seeking a Business Intelligence Reporting Analyst to focus on the development of our Power BI reporting environment for our Sales team. The Reporting Analyst will be responsible for creating impactful dashboards and reports which deliver meaningful data to our business leaders in order to achieve organizational goals. This role will do more than compile tabular data; this role will have an opportunity to use data to tell a story, and help our team, as well as business leaders, derive meaningful insights. The Reporting Analyst will be responsible for reporting on sales leads and following their journey through the sales pipeline. 

The right candidate will have a strong background with Power BI. They will be detail oriented, with the ability to infer business needs and develop reporting solutions using data visualization best practices including leveraging Gestalt principles, Storytelling with Data, and visualization selection principals. A strong ability to independently explore and understand new data sources is expected. They will proactively run data quality checks to ensure the integrity of the information being delivered. Self-motivated with an eagerness to learn, becoming a subject matter expert to coincide with technical fluency. Stays abreast of the latest Power BI features and identifies the right opportunities for implementation. 

What you will be doing: 

Report Development (50%) 

  • Meet with business leaders/users to understand their needs and requirements 

  • Build effective and efficient reports and dashboards using best practices in data presentation and design language 

Semantic Model Design (15%) 

  • Build semantic models for our CRM data to support reporting needs 

  • Monitor model efficiency and implement changes as needed to optimize performance 

Analysis (25%) 

  • Identify pertinent trends to share with sales leaders 

  • Proactively dive head first into data to offer deeper insights into high/low performing KPIs 

Documentation (5%) 

  • Document report development processes for business contingency purposes 

  • Maintain semantic model documentation, including data sources and table relationships 

  • Maintain an index of all active reports, including data lineage, purpose, and audience 

  • Maintain reporting changelog 

Team Support & Other Duties (5%) 

  • Provide backfill support for ongoing team work as needed 

Qualifications 

  • 5+ years’ experience in a data or business intelligence focused role 

  • 5+ years creating BI dashboards and reports with a focus on data visualization and storytelling with a high proficiency using Power BI 

  • 3+ years writing SQL queries for data mining 

  • Strong understanding of CRM systems and data 

  • Ability to independently understand data through business context, exploration, and logical connections 

  • Mortgage experience preferred

  • Advanced level proficiency with Power BI: 

  • Building efficient semantic models 

  • Understand/create dynamic measures using DAX 

  • Power Query for data sourcing/transformation 

  • Row-level security implementation 

  • Calculation groups 

  • Data visualization 

  • Performance Analyzer 

  • DAX Studio 

  • Intermediate level proficiency with SQL (T-SQL): 

  • Standard select queries 

  • Joins across multivariate datasets including multiple keys 

  • Data normalization 

  • Window functions and methods 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 

This opportunity is fully remote with the option to work from our offices in San Diego, CA, Irvine, CA, or Omaha, NE for those who prefer an office environment. You will be joining a dynamic, fully remote team which is distributed across pacific and central time zones and supporting our business across all US time zones.
